Michal & Angie Swanson

Owners

Michal and Angie Swanson purchased the funeral homes in McCook and Cambridge in May of 2024. Their goal is to continue to honor the legacy of service and compassionate care set by the Herrmann, Lockenour, and Jones families for generations.

Angie was born and raised on a farm west of Grant, Nebraska, the youngest of five children of Joe and Jody Krajewski. The farm and especially her love for horses stay with her today. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. At the funeral home she assists with services, serves as the bookeeper, and pretty much makes sure Michal and the other funeral directors are where they should be when they need to be.
Michal was born and raised in southwest Nebraska to Owen and Claudette Swanson. He attended school in McCook through the first grade and went on to graduate high school from Chase County High School in Imperial. He continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before obtaining his Mortuary Science - Advanced Standing Diploma from DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa. Michal was then employed by Roper and Sons Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska where he completed his internship and earned his license as a funeral director and embalmer in 2010. In 2011 Michal was employed by Liewer Funeral Homes of Imperial where he worked until 2020, when he made his final career move to work with Jim Jones and Donna Hall at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel and Lockenour-Jones Mortuary. He served as a military police investigator with the Nebraska Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Angie and Michal are active in the McCook and surrounding communities. They are both members of the Rotary Club of McCook and Angie is very active at the district level serving as district chair against human trafficking. They both have served on many boards and committees in their time in southwest Nebraska. Their family is completed by daughters, Tenley Jo and Raegan Grace who can also often be found helping at the funeral homes. Michal and Angie and their girls attend St. Patrick Catholic Church of McCook.
