Zila Jean Anderson

Zila Jean Anderson of Kearney passed away Sunday June 7, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Jean was born on January 18, 1934 in Trenton, Nebraska to parents, Paul E. and Thelma L. (Campbell) Davis. She was a graduate of Trenton High School. After graduation Jean taught in rural schools for a brief time. On August 4, 1951 she was united in marriage to Charlie (Chuck) T. Anderson at Trenton. After their marriage they lived in Cambridge for a short time before moving to Denver where they started their family, consisting of Shari and Curtis. Chuck attended barber school and Jean became a District Manager for Beeline Fashions. They remained in Denver until 1976 when they moved to McCook and Jean managed Sweet Briar. She followed her dream of having her store by opening Just Class, a ladies' dress shop. She retired in 1998. When her health started to fail she moved to Kearney to live with her daughter, Shari, and granddaughter, Andrea and husband, Adam Hacker. Jean was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Holdrege Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, and BPOE Does. She was an avid garage sale enthusiast, loved to go to auctions, and never passed up a trip to the casinos. Jean and Chuck loved to dance, as well as travel. Preceding her in death were her parents, Paul and Thelma Davis; husband, Charlie Anderson; three sisters, Madeline Stengel, Gladys Lorimer and Debra Nelson; and two brothers, Stan and Bill Davis. Survivors include her daughter, Shari Laituri of Kearney; son, Curtis Anderson of Overton; sister, Charlotte Williams of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Paul Davis of Lakewood, CO; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Memorial services will be Saturday, June 13, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Terry McCorkle officiating. Inurnment will be in the Trenton Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial Service
