Wyona 'Nonie' Corene Dailey

Wyona Corene Dailey of Stratton, NE, also known as "Nonie" to her family and friends, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE. She was 73 years old. Nonie was born on July 11, 1944 at Max, NE to parents, Roy and Ruby (Carter) Stute. She graduated from Max High School with the class of 1962. After graduation Nonie went to Denver, CO where she attended Beauty School. She worked in a salon in Oklahoma before returning to the Max Community. She began working as a nurses aide at the Stratton Hospital. On February 14, 1965, she became the bride of James Lowell Dailey. They made their home on a farm north of Stratton. Nonie was a busy mother and homemaker, farm wife, and still found time to drive the Stratton School Bus for many years. She raised a large garden every summer. Nonie loved to cook and would always prepare a meal every morning, noon and night for her family as well as anyone who would stop by. She enjoyed her chickens especially one hen that became her pet. In her free time she loved to crochet making afghans, kitchen scratchers, and baby clothes, often going to craft shows to sell her creations. She was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan and enjoyed playing the slot machines whenever she could. Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy and Ruby Stute; husband, Jim Dailey; and infant son, John Dailey. Survivors include her children, James "Jimmie" Dailey and wife, Melissa, of Stratton and Kenda Dailey of McCook; brothers, Daryl Stute and wife, Bonnie, of Canton, KS and Kenneth Stute and wife, Karen, of Holdrege; three grandsons, Kyle Dailey of Stratton, Logan Dailey of Ozark, MO, and Josh Dailey and wife, Makayla, of Lincoln; numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend words of comfort to the family. Memorial services will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at the Stratton United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Fink officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
