Wilma Joan Stevens

Wilma Joan Stevens, 83 passed away on Monday August 24, 2015 in Des Moines, Ia. "Jo",

as she was known by everyone, was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on the 20th of September, 1931 to Cordy and Geraldine Kester.

In 1953 she married Vaughn Stevens, also of Cambridge and in 1961 they moved their family to Des Moines.

In 1966 she went to work for Bankers Life, which would later become Principal Financial. She remained employed

there until her retirement in 1992.

Jo had a tremendous love for the arts and was a member of the Civic Music Association in Des Moines.

She enjoyed singing with the chorus at work and attended most of the major Broadway musicals and

jazz performances to stop in Des Moines.

She is survived by her children, Jane Stevens of lincoln, Ne; Kaye Marasco of Indianola, Ia;

Jim Stevens (Stacy) of Des Moines, Ia; brother Phil Kester (Marilyn) of Moline, Il;

Sister Susan Jereske (Ted) of Ft Collins, Co; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Vaughn; her parents;

granddaughter, Molly Huss and grandson, Andy Marasco.

Services will be held at 10:30AM at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, Nebraska.
