William 'Bill' Loescher

William "Bill" Loescher, age 89, of McCook, passed away Tuesday evening, June 28th, 2022 at his home in McCook. Bill was born in Benkelman, Nebraska on January 3, 1933 to William Louis and Martha Mitilda (Mathews) Loescher. He attended school in Stratton, Nebraska prior to being drafted in the United States Army. He served his country honorably for two years. On April 18, 1959, Bill was united in marriage to Sally Ann Rotter at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton, Nebraska. The couple made McCook their lifetime home where Bill worked at Anderson Ford for 14 years before going to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. He worked for BN as a fireman and as an engineer. He retired in 1997. Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing, and a good game of fast-pitch softball. He also made his own wine which he loved to share with his close friends and family. He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of McCook as well as the Knights of Columbus. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Loescher. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally Loescher of McCook; children: Peggy Loescher of Lethbridge, Canada; Nancy (Holly) Loescher of Wichita, Kansas; Todd (Brigitte) Loescher of Newton, Kansas; Jill (Marty) Pistulka of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Susan (John) Chrislip of McCook; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Byron (Roberta) Loescher of Stratton; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 10AM - 7PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. The family will be present to greet friends from 5PM - 7PM. A rosary will be recited following the visitation, beginning at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM, Wednesday morning, July 6, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook with Father Dale Allder celebrating. Interment with military honors will follow services in St. Patrick Calvary Cemetery, McCook. Memorials are suggested to the Heritage Senior Center of McCook for their Meals on Wheels Program or to Community Healthcare and Hospice of McCook in Bill's name.
