William C. Herman

William "Bill" C. Herman age 85 of Culbertson, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was born in Culbertson, NE on June 27, 1929 to Conrad Jr.and Lillian (Butherus) Herman. Bill grew up in Culbertson graduating from Culbertson High School in 1947. Bill was united in marriage to Eleanor Ninemires at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook on June 26, 1949. Bill was active in the Community, he served as Mayor and many years as the Fire Chief of the Culbertson Fire Department. He worked at Kugler's, WW Trucking and was manager of Rancher's Lumber Company in Culbertson. He purchased Ranchers and ran the business until he retired. Bill was baptized in the St. Johns Lutheran Church in May 2001 and was also a member of the Church. He enjoyed rattlesnake hunting, black powder shoots and wood carving. He loved to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Jim Mockry; brothers-in-law, Richard Klein and Robert Strong. Bill is survived by his wife Eleanor of McCook; two daughters, Nancy and husband, Jerry Kautz, of Culbertson and Julie Mockry of McCook; six grandchildren, Monica Kautz, Levi and wife, Loralee Kautz, Chris and wife, Kelli Kautz, Justin and wife, Chara Kautz, Colette and husband, Travis Balderson, Stacey Brown, Jamie and wife, Theresa Mockry; step-grandchildren, Cyndi and husband, Jesse Carlisle and Cairlyn Mockry; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean and husband, Gerry Beidek, of McCook and Hope Strong of Culbertson; sister-in-law, Barbara Klein of McCook. Memorial Services willl be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson with Pastor Bradley Rick officiating. Inurnment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery. Memorials may be left in Bill's name to the Culbertson Fire Department, Culbertson Rescue or the St. John's Lutheran Church. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
