Virginia May Hein

May 20, 1930 — November 9, 2020

Virginia May (Gillen) Hein gained her angel wings on November 9, 2020. She was born on May 20, 1930 in McCook, Nebraska to Frank and Marie (Lebsack) Gillen. She was the youngest of four children having two older brothers and one older sister. She was raised in McCook, where she attended McCook schools and met her husband of 71 years, Don Hein. She and Don were united in marriage on August 12, 1949 and to this union four daughters joined them. Early in their marriage, she worked along side her aunt at the Gazette and then worked for 1st National Bank. Virginia and Don are members of the United Methodist Church. She loved the holidays and celebrating them with much detail. She would cook and throw a party for her family and friends. She loved her outdoor flowers, playing cards, her dogs, fishing, hunting, and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Leblanc; brothers, Clarence Gillen and Francis Gillen. Virginia is survived by her beloved husband, Don; four daughters: Patricia (Michael) Cornish, Rebecca (Gale) Loop, Barbara (Jay) Emory, and Lesa (William) Clifford; sister-in-law, Betty Gillen; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside memorials services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (CT), Monday, November 16, 2020 at Saint Patrick Calvary Cemetery in McCook with Jay Emory officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family of Virginia Hein for later designation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
