Viola Faye Frick

Viola Faye Frick (November 29, 1914 - April 9, 2015) Viola Frick age 100, passed away at the Hillcrest Nursing Home on April 9, 2015. She was born in Trenton, Nebraska on November 29, 1914 to John and Bertha (Making) Owens. She grew up in rural Hitchcock County graduating from Cornell Rural School. On August 12, 1931 she married Roy C. Frick in Colby, KS, he preceded her in death on December 17, 1981. To this union five children were born; Arvene, Evelyn, Vernon, LaVerne and Denise. Viola worked as a waitress and a cook for many years at the school and at restaurants. She worked for 18 years at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton as a nurses aide. She belonged to the Idle Hour Club and the United Methodist Church, the Methodist Community Quilters. She loved to crochet and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy; daughter: Evelyn Lorentz on January 21, 2014; son Arvene Frick on June 6, 2014 brothers: Francis, Melvin, Wilbur, John Owens Jr.; two sisters: Nila Dewey and Iola Berger. Viola is survived by her son: Vernon and wife Sue ; LaVerne and wife Sharon Frick all of Herndon, KS; Denise and husband Jerry Holbrook of Crossville, TN; grandchildren: Gwen Taylor, Larry Frick, Sandy Green, Rick Lorentz, Sherry Stouffer, Rodney Lorentz, Roger Lorentz, Valerie Maas, Vikki Schmalz, Rob (Frick) Greigo, Trevor Frick, Kyle Frick, James Holbrook, Joe Holbrook,: two step-grandchildren:: Kent Jording, Lance Jording; 26 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Betty Frick of Eakley, CO; Dorothy Furry of Kearney, NE: son-in-law: Clarence Lorentz of Herndon, KS. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor John Lewis officiating.
