Twila 'Trudy' L. Nelson

Twila (Trudy) Nelson 1925-2018 Twila passed in peace at 7:30 a.m. on January 16, 2018, at the Greenridge Place in Westminster, CO. After graduating from school in Imperial, she move to McCook, NE with the help of her two sisters, went to work at Modrell's Cafe for the next 20 years until Modrells closed. She met and married Dare Nelson in 1943, and they had one son, Gary Nelson. Twila was well known for working in the retail shops such as Geiharts, The Teddy Bear Shop and others before retiring. She was a member of the Easter Lily Lodge, the Burlington Veterans Auxiliary and the Burlington Railroaders Wives. She spent several years working for the election board and was on the board of the Heritage Senior Center. Previous passing her were her mother and father; five sisters; one brother; her husband, Dare Nelson; and dear friend Tom Kiplinger. She is survived by her son Gary Nelson, daughter in law, Peggy Nelson both of Brighton, Colorado; two granddaughters, Tammy Spencer and husband Kent and Dee Osborne and husband Mike; two grandsons, Gary Jr. and wife Katie and Jeff and wife Shelby; along with seven great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, one great-great- grandson and one great-great-granddaughter. Memorials may be given in her name. Visitation will be Monday, January 22, 2018, 9:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, NE with family present from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. to greet friends. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 10:00 a.m. at the Hermann Jones Funeral Chapel with Johnny Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.
