Travis Wayne Anderson

Travis W. Anderson age 78, of Trenton, NE, passed away on Aug. 7, 2018. He was born in Heber Springs, AK on November 1. 1939 to James D. and Mary E (Van Buskirk) Anderson. Travis attended and graduated from Big Spring High School in Big Spring, TX. He then attended Howard County College in Big Spring. On October 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Tommie Carter. The couple have been married for 57 years. Travis served his country in the National Guard being discharged in 1964. Travis owned and managed Spring Crest Drapery Centers in Santa Fe, N. Mex., Westminster, Boulder and Longmont, CO. In Santa Fe and Boulder, the couple were active in the Jaycees, an organization for charitable and community projects. Travis was regional manager for the drapery franchise company and traveled the Midwest training new dealers. Travis was a good table shuffleboard player, being inducted into the Colorado Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 2004. He was a drag racer in the 50s and 60s and has over 100 wins and trophies displayed in his barn NW of Trenton. He enjoyed his pontoon boat and catching catfish at Lake Swanson with his friend and neighbor. His pride and joy was his classic 1975 Mercury Cougar enhanced with a 460 cubic inch Ford engine. Travis loved people and never met anyone he did not like. He had a great sense of humor. He was loved and looked up to by his younger siblings and many friends. Upon retirement Tommie and Travis moved from Colorado to Trenton, NE in 2008. They were still faithful fans of the University of Colorado Buffalos and enjoyed the friendly rivalry with their Nebraska neighbors.. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary; infant son: Michael Wayne in 1963. Travis is survived by his wife Tommie of Trenton; brother: David and wife Betty Anderson of Weatherford, OK; sister: Doris Hartley of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by 3 nephews and 2 nieces. No public services are being held at this point. Memorial may be left in Travis's name to the El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
