Timothy John Thompson

August 4, 1946 — August 30, 2014

Tim was born August 4, 1946 to Denly John and Joye Louise (Heizenreter) Thompson in McCook, NE. Tims life journey ended on August 29, 2014 in McCook, NE under the care of Hospice at his residence. Tims life was a special one being mental disabled. His family was very important to him as he was the most happy when he was with his family. Tim spent the majority of his life in Culbertson and McCook, NE. He did attend school in Denver at the Wallace School Village for the Disabled in Denver to learn basic skills. His grandmother, Louise Heizenreter, was his champion in life and fostered Tims love of family. Tims life was enriched when he entered into the SWATs program at its infancy and was a viable member until his final days. Tims main interest was in anything that had a ball involved. He loved sports and was avid Husker fan. You could find him tuned in either on radio or TV to any Husker sporting event. Tims true love was golf. He developed golf courses in his mind and played all the great courses of the world, hoping to better his score or at least beat the pros. Tim also participated in Special Olympics and was very proud of his medals that he won at district and state meets. 4-H was another interest and he beamed showing off his ribbons that he received at the fair. Tim developed many friendships throughout his life; his morning coffee group, other food pantry volunteers, and the many members of the SWATs community. Tim was a member of the Lutheran faith and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, NE. One of his proudest moments was when he was confirmed after years of tutoring in church doctrine.
