Timothy Wayne Teel

     Timothy Wayne Teel, 72, of Maywood, Nebraska, passed away on December 5, 2025 after a brief battle with stomach cancer. Born in McCook, Nebraska on October 7, 1953, to parents Oral (Bud) and Delma (Hoschouer) Teel, the third of five children, Tim spent most of his life tending the family farm that he grew up on north of McCook.

     Tim graduated from Maywood High School in 1971 and a year later, married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl (Gugelman) on August 5, 1972. Together, they lived in Laramie while Tim attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1974 with a degree in Rangeland Management. During his time in Laramie, Tim walked on to the university’s baseball team, learned to scuba dive, enjoyed the outdoors and met many lifelong friends. After his father’s death in 1973, and a brief time to finish college, Tim and Cheryl returned to his family’s farm and made their life together there for the rest of their 53 year marriage. To this union, two children, Tiffany and Brett were born.

     Tim spent his life farming and tending to animals. He raised pigs, cattle for many years, a few chickens, ran a background feeder operation and later became a truck driver, mostly hauling hay for those that needed it and for feeding his own beloved horses. Tim was very proud of and loved his horses! His grandkids could always count on going to see and ride Grandpa’s horses when they came to visit. Tim was always ready to lend a hand to his many friends and neighbors and enjoyed working alongside and helping the surrounding community. He preferred to stay home on the farm and seldom traveled very far other than for a day trip with one of his many friends, to go shooting or to one of his grandchildren’s games. Tim enjoyed trap and target shooting and hunting with his family and friends. He would leave the farm to visit family or to spend a weekend camping.

     Tim was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad, Orville Snyder; step-sister, Lana Lashley; mother and father-in-law, Don and Marilyn Gugelman and son-in-law, Rob Brown.

     Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Cheryl; children, Tiffany (Jay) Brown-Waldron, Brett (Megan) Teel; grandchildren: Austin (Lexus), Trey, Jaelyn and Theron Brown, Trevyn (Audra) and Dylan Waldron, Adeline and Oliver Teel, six great-grandchildren; siblings, Dewey (Carla) Teel, Janice Burton, Paul (Tami) Teel and Bruce (Lynn) Teel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Deb (Mark) Shirley, Marty (Christy) Gugelman, Steven Gugelman, Teresa (Tracy) Gadner; step-brothers, Lee (Linda) Snyder and Tom Lashley; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

     In accordance with Tim’s wishes, there will be no funeral and burial, as he chose to be cremated. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life potluck at the Maywood Community Hall at a later date in 2026.
