Terry Dean Chitwood

Terry Dean Chitwood age 58, died at the Community Hospital of McCook on Friday, May 2, 2014. He was born in McCook, NE on February 15, 1956 to Jessie and Roberta (Kohmetscher) Chitwood. Terry attended school and graduated from McCook High School in 1974. Terry entered 1974 served in the United States Navy for 10 years Honorably Discharged in August 15, 1984. On September 3, 1978 he was married to Christine Mazzotta and to this union one daughter Christy was born. Terry was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad as an engineer. He was employed by Burlington Northern for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and his grandchildren. Terry traveled throughout the US. He was a member of the St, Patricks Catholic Church. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and step-father: Gene Cappel. Survivors include his daughter Christy and husband Mark Puleo of Newburgh, New York; 2 grandchildren: Dominic and Gianna Puleo; 4 sisters: Deb and husband Rick Cumming of Danbury, NE; Peggy and husband Dan Dueland; Rose and husband Joe Koetter ; Cindy and husband Dave Pohl all of McCook, NE; two brothers: Mark and wife Stacy of McCook ;Todd and wife Diane of Aurora, NE and; many nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patricks Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Visitation will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel on Monday from 2:00 PM till 6: 00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM till after the rosary. Family has chosen cremation and no inurnment plans have been made at this time. Memorials may be left in Terrys name to the American Heart Association.
