Terry Lee Brown

Terry Lee Brown originally of McCook passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was 53 years old. Terry was born on January 9, 1964, to parents, Gilbert and Joan Marie (Wallace) Brown at McCook, Nebraska. He lived in McCook until his senior year in high school. He graduated from Lebanon High School, Lebanon, Oregon in 1982. Upon graduation, he entered the US Army. He spent 18 months in Germany and returned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Terry sustained injuries in a car accident while at Fort Campbell in September 1986 and became a quadriplegic. He made the best of his injury and went to Linn-Benton Community College, Albany, OR, and graduated with an Associates Degree. He became a National Service Officer for the Veterans Administration for two years. After that, he became involved with the Oregon Paralyzed Veterans and served with them for approximately 25 years. At the time he left Oregon in 2015 he was the President of the Paralyzed Veterans of Oregon. Terry enjoyed his little Yorkie dog "Bear" who is now 15 years old. They were inseparable; Terry said Bear was his "son". He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal Grandparents, Thomas and Helen (Brisby) Wallace of McCook and Gerald and Margaret (Glendenning) Brown of Indianola. He is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Joan Brown of McCook; five siblings, Debbie (Scott) Malleck of McCook, Sherry Bandy and Perry Brown (Jane) all of Albany, OR, Deanna McMackin of McCook and Dennis Brown (Candace) also of Albany, OR ; 19 nieces and nephews and 22 great-nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given in his name to the Nebraska Paralyzed Veterans. Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 10, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Assembly of God Church in McCook with Pastor Barry Johnson officiating.
