Teraline L. Markwad, also known as Terri to her family and friends, of Culbertson, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 75 years old. Terri was born on July 19, 1944 at Durham, North Carolina to parents, Harold M. and Loretta A. (Steckmyer) Felker. She graduated with the class of 1962 from Nebraska School of Agriculture, Curtis, NE. On May 5, 1963 she was united in marriage to Ernest C. Markwad at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Culbertson. They made their home in Denver for a short time where Terri worked for a law firm. They relocated to the Culbertson community to start a hog operation. Terri eventually worked as a cashier for Walmart until her early retirement at which time she became the dedicated caretaker for her ailing mother and husband. Terri enjoyed animals of all kinds especially her adopted dog, Cricket, and her many cats. Her favorite time of the year living on the farm was harvest. Terri will always be remembered by family and friends for her quick wit, sassy personality, and a strong hard-working woman. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold and Loretta Felker; and husband, Ernie Markwad. Survivors include two nieces, Sandy (Bill) McConville of Culbertson and Laura (Dave) Klaus of Newberg, OR; uncle, Bill (Ursula) Steckmyer of Germany; numerous family and a host of neighbors and friends. Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society. The family will honor Terris wishes to be cremated with no service.
