Teny L. Phillips

Teny LaVern Phillips, age 95, of McCook, Nebraska passed away on September 6, 2017 in McCook. Teny was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Patsy and Mary (Pacell) Colonna on October 15, 1921. Teny went as far as 7th grade. She then worked as a caregiver for a family in Youngstown. Teny worked as a cook for most of her life. She was a baker in the U.S. Army and reached the rank of Sargent. She was honorably discharged on October 29, 1943. She married Stephen B. Phillips on November 17, 1949. They enjoyed traveling which was good since Stephen was in the Air Force. They lived in Ohio, California, Texas, Spain and Grand Forks, North Dakota until Stephen retired in 1968. They moved to McCook and lived there until Stephen transferred to Omaha. Teny worked for Bishops Buffet until she retired. Stephen and Teny enjoyed going to Jazz Festivals, Chicago Cubs baseball games, and the College World Series. Teny was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; her parents, Patsy and Mary Colonna; sisters, Rose, Carmel, Mary, Clara, and Jennie; and brothers, Tony, Phil and Frank. Teny is survived by her sons, Stephen J. Phillips and wife, Debbie, of Springdale, AR and Patrick Phillips of Eagle, NE; her daughter, Corinne Phillips-Ward and husband, Mike of McCook; brother, Joseph Colonna and wife, Helen, of Youngstown, OH; grandchildren, Kim, Steve, Tate and Brianna as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the American Red Cross, 1302 S Willow, North Platte, NE 69101 Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2017, 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with family present to greet friends. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 16, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Father Gary Brethour officiating.
