Stephanie Jay Bader (Stevie), age 75, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Oberlin, KS on February 13, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on August 30, 1944 to James N and Dorothy H (DeNault) Taylor. She attended over 17 schools growing up in a military family and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1962. Stevie and Delmer Fredrick Bader were united in marriage on September 8, 1962 in Julesburg, Co. and to this union five children were born, Michael, Michelle, Delvin, Angela and Kendel. The family lived in several of the surrounding communities before making Oberlin their home for the past 53 years where they opened their own business "Dels Body Shop." She spent most of her time being a homemaker taking care of her family with little time for herself. However, during the summer months, she did enjoy spending time with friends and playing slow-pitch soft ball on a local team. Occasionally, she would help her husband in the body shop and as the children aged, she eventually took jobs outside of the home including: Spring Creek Castings where she would help cast, clean and finish statues and figurines. She also worked as a dietary aid at the Oberlin Good Samaritan Society Home and eventually became the office manager. She thrived in this position for many years enjoying the work, residents and co-workers until the loss of her youngest son in 1993. Stevie was preceded in death by her parents, James Taylor and Dorothy Taylor, her brother, Daniel, sons, Michael and Kendel, grandson, Corey Ryan Cook and great grandson, Rourke Kyle Griggs. Stevie is survived by her husband, Delmer of the home, daughters Michelle McCarty and husband Kevin, Bennington, Ks and Angela Fisher and husband Kendal, Oberlin; son Delvin and wife Shirley, Codell, Ks; brother, Michael Taylor and wife Linda, Garden City, Ks; sisters Candace Toczylowski and husband Michael, Hoschton, Ga; Penny Kendra and husband David, Gettysburg, PA; Kathy Taylor, New Bedford, MA; fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name and sent to the family. Cremation was chosen. The public is invited to a celebration of life at the Good Samaritan Society,108 East Ash Street, Oberlin, KS on February 28th from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.
