Shirley Ann Volz

Shirley Ann Volz passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at her home in McCook. She was 84 years old. Shirley was born to Gerald and Marie (Kahler) White at Hastings, NE, on May 14, 1934. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1952. On August 17, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward Thomas "Tom" Volz, Jr. at Lexington. They eventually moved to McCook where they started their own plumbing business known as Volz Plumbing. Shirley was an integral part of the business keeping the companys books. She later became the Budget Director of Red Willow County where she served for 60 years. Tom and Shirley enjoyed many extensive trips throughout their marriage, visiting many of the states as well as abroad. Preceding her in death were her parents, Gerald and Marie White; and sister, Jeannine Moore. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Tom Volz of McCook; sister, Karen and husband, Allan Taylor of Austin, TX; brother-in-law, Rodney Moore of Lincoln; six nieces and nephews; special friend, Lilia Dimis of McCook; and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Memorial service will be Thursday, January 3, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Mr. Don Argabright officiating.
