Shirley Ann Baumgartner of McCook passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at her home in Brookdale. She was 87 years old. Shirley was born on November 4, 1931 at Scotts City, Kansas to parents, Harry "Ray" and Arla May (Whitson) Langerman. She graduated from Wilson High School, Wilson, Kansas in 1949. On November 22, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dale Eudean Baumgartner in Wilson. To this union five children were born. Dale and Shirley lived in North Carolina when he was in the service, then moved to Kansas. From Topeka, Kansas they moved to McCook in 1966. Besides being a busy mother and homemaker, Shirley sold Avon and helped with the family business. Her hobbies included reading, camping, fishing, and playing Bingo. She also enjoyed international travel, collecting knick knacks and spending time with her family. Shirley moved from her long-time home in McCook to Brookdale Independent Living Facility in 2017. She enjoyed living there, gaining many new friends, and attending all the activities, especially putting puzzles together with a group of ladies. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ray and Arla Langerman; husband, Dale Baumgartner; sister, Karen Langerman; and brother, Robert Langerman. Survivors include her children, Alan (Carol) Baumgartner of Holdrege, Michael (Teresa) Baumgartner of Kearney, Gerald Baumgartner of North Platte, Kim (Bob) Ingels of McCook and Kelly (Candy) Baumgartner of Great Falls, MT; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook "Meals on Wheels". Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel with Pastor Seth Bates officiating. An inurnment will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE in the spring. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook entrusted with arrangements. Memorial Service Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, February 20, 2019 2:00 PM 607 Norris Avenue McCook, Nebraska 69001 Burial at Fort McPherson National Cemetery will be held in the Spring.
