Rusty Wayne Park peacefully passed away at his McCook home on February 5, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Those waiting for him in Heaven, were his grandparents, parents, sister Judith Lea, twin brothers and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Rusty was born on February 3, 1953, at Saint Catherine’s Hospital to Wayne and Evelyn (Bales) Park. He was welcomed home by his older sister Dotti. He graduated with the McCook High School class of 1971 and attended McCook Community College earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Rusty loved baseball and played many hours with his cousins and friends, including Legion baseball and men’s softball. He played a lot of positions, but playing catcher was his favorite, like his mom. Other passions of his were watching sports, hunting with his boys and spending time with his grandkids.
On July 26, 1980, he married Jackie Wright in the Indianola Christian Church. They welcomed two sons, Brandon and Cameron, and later, a “daughter” Emily who gave them two wonderful grandchildren, Hadley and Hunter.
Rusty worked many years for auto dealerships around McCook, making numerous friends. In June of 1988, he and Jackie purchased their floral shop, which they still own today. Rusty also worked part-time at Casey’s to help put their sons through college. He was known for making the best pizza in town.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie of 45 years; sons, Brandon (Emily) and Cameron; sister, Dotti; mother-in-law, Sarah Wright; brothers-in-law, Verlyn and Michael (Jodi B) Wright; sister-in-law, Brenda (John) Dickinson; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday afternoon, February 9, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Tuesday morning, February 10, 2026 at the Willow Chirstian Church in Indianola, Nebraska. Burial in the Indianola Cemetery will follow services.
Memorials are suggested to the family of Rusty Park for future designation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.
