Ronald (Ron) Alvin Warren passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the Community Hospital in McCook, he was 75 years old. Ronald was born to Guy William and Ruth Alpha (Rickard) Warren on March 18, 1944 at home on his mother "Ruths" 44th birthday in Indianola, Nebraska. Ron grew up in Indianola and graduated from Indianola High School in 1962. On August 5, 1962 Ron was united in marriage to Gloria Jean (Munsell) Jones in McCook at the Church of God. To this union five children were born, Kellie, Toby, Corey, Brian and Brett. Rons first career was with McCook Public Power in McCook as a lineman. He became a Master Electrician and the family moved to Loop City, Nebraska then moved to Grand Island as he was offered the City of Grand Island Electrical Inspector position. In 1974 Ron was hired as the Head Maintenance of the newly built Community Hospital in McCook. Ron and Gloria later owned the Warren Electric Company for several years and were the leaders in the McCook area installing the (big dish) Satellites. Ron and Gloria eventually started the Midway Pilot Car Service; Ron trained many individuals in this business. Rons many hobbies and interest included; artifact searching, traveling, camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and metal detecting (he was the only one allowed to detect at the Indianola and Atlanta prison camps), enjoyed watching Husker football and Cubs baseball, loved his dogs through the years, especially Molly. The family enjoyed many vacations to South Dakota in the custom build camper Ron built out of a milk truck. In 1983 Ron received his private pilots license, the family enjoyed many flight adventures. He was very particular in his work and was always inventing new gadgets. Ron really enjoyed riding his three-wheel electric bike all over town. He was very creative and had unique landscaping in his yard in town. Ron and Gloria very much enjoyed an European cruise from their children for their 50th anniversary and were able to take their last cruise with family in 2015 to Catalina, Ensenada and slept on the Queen Mary in California. Due to Rons failing health he was a resident at Hillcrest Nursing Home since July 2016. Preceding him in death were his parents Guy and Ruth Warren, brothers Homer Warren, Darrell Warren, sisters June Atkinson and Nadine Allen. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of McCook; five children and their families; daughter Kellie (Ron) Soden of McCook, children Kimberly (Jodi) Duncan, Kristopher Soden, Andrea (Brandon) Malleck, sons Toby (Carolyn) Warren of Denver Colorado, child Harrison, Corey (Laura) Warren of Parker, Colorado, children Noah and Tara, Brian (Amanda) Warren of Culbertson, Nebraska, children Evan, Kole, and Leah, Brett (Alyssa) Warren of McCook, children Bryanna, Payton, Natalya, Everleigh, and Olympia. A memorial service will be held at the Herrmann - Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook on Saturday July 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. A reception gathering will be held following the service at the McCook Senior Center.
