Ronald Dean Banzhaf, 76 of Cambridge passed away on December 3, 2016 at the Cambridge Manor. He was born on February 26, 1940 on the farm of his parents, Walter F. and Margaret E. (Allen) in rural Frontier County near Orafino. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958. He volunteered for the draft in May 1959 being inducted to the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in February 1965.
On July 17, 1965, he was united in marriage to Ardyth A. Oehlerking at the Ebenezer Evangelical United Brethern Church in Murdock, NE. The couple was blessed with three sons: LaVern, Virgil and Kevin.
The couple resided on the farm that his grandfather homesteaded in Frontier County in 1896. Later moving to a home south of Orafino. Ron farmed in the Orafino area all his life. He was always willing to help neighbors when they needed help. Ron was a good steward of his land and cattle.
Ron was a member of the Evangelical Untied Brethern and later the United Methodist Church. He served his church in various committees and offices. Ron and Ardyth enjoyed going on five mission trips. These included three weeks in New Orleans, LA following Hurricane Katrina. The also spent three weeks at the United Methodist Mission in locations in Kentucky and Louisiana, along with one week working at Greensburg, KS following their destructive tornado.
Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ardyth, three sons: Lavern and wife Rhonda, Virgil and wife Trista; and Kevin and wife Heather all of Cambridge;10 grandchildren: Kayla and fianc Mark Hanson, Krayton, Jayda, Ellice, Taten, Konner, Mason, Hannah, Hailey, Matthew; 3 brothers: Roger and wife Norma of Apache Junction, AZ; Marvin and wife Norma of Cambridge, NE, Norman and wife Carole of Apache junction, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Wulf. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge. Ron wished that memorials be given in his name to the donors choice at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary. Friends may leave on line condolences at lockenour.com
