Roger Lee Taylor

     Roger Lee Taylor was born on July 24, 1935, in Dunlap, Iowa to Maurice and Edna (Allen) Taylor. He lived a life characterized by commitment to family, service, and community involvement.

     Roger graduated from Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1953, and later earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Roger served his country in the United States Army Reserve, an experience that instilled in him a deep sense of duty, patriotism, and humility.

      On January 30, 1961, Roger was united in Marriage to Claudia L. Hult in Kansas City, Kansas. The young couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska until his employment with Chevrolet brought them to McCook, Nebraska in 1966. Throughout his career, Roger made significant contributions to various organizations and businesses. He worked for Chevrolet, TRW, American State Bank, and AmFirst Bank. He also owned and operated Taylor Buick Olds for several years. His activity in the local business community built countless friendships and connections.

     Roger was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of McCook. His involvement extended beyond his church; he was also a member of the McCook Elks Club and the McCook Envoys. Roger served on many community boards. His dedication to local organizations showcased his commitment to enhancing the quality of life in McCook for his family and future families.

     Roger passed away on October 6, 2025, at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska. He was 90 years of age.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Claudia Taylor. His contributions to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him.

     Roger is survived by his daughter, Traci Taylor of McCook; son, David (Andela) Taylor of Cambridge, Nebraska; daughter, Jill (Brad) Geisler of McCook; and son, Andrew Taylor of Asheville, North Carolina; he cherished time spent with his grandchildren: Taylor (Dawson) Brunswick, Joseph (Holly) Taylor, Kyle (Courtney) Geisler, and Olivia Taylor and his great-grandchildren, Collyns and Kennedy Geisler and Ava and Ellie Brunswick; as well as sisters-in-law Laurena McDonnell, Shari Hult, and Michele Hult.

     A memorial gathering to honor Roger Taylor will take place on October 10, 2025, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This gathering will serve as a time to reflect on his life and celebrate the impact he had on those around him. A private family inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook at a later date.

     Memorials are suggested to the family of Roger Taylor for later designation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.
