Roger Martin Sughroue

July 29, 1938 — January 27, 2019

Roger Martin Sughroue went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his beloved Parents, brother, Robert Sughroue, and Grandparents on Sunday, Jan. 27th at 8:04 p.m., in Lincoln, NE. He was born in Indianola, Nebraska on July 29th, 1938 to Martin and Lena (Rayer) Sughroue. He graduated Indianola high school in 1956 and began his career in sales. In 1978 he relocated to Yuma, AZ and resided there until 2013. He worked in Agriculture his entire life until his retirement in 2010. In 2013 he moved to California to be next to his son Jay and daughter in-law Terri. Roger loved driving from Yuma, AZ to his ranch in Nebraska, driving to Mexico, driving to San Diego every Sunday and driving to see his grandchildrens sporting events and other special occasions. Simply put Roger found his greatest peace while driving and smoking his pipe. In July 2018, prior to his 80 Birthday he moved back to Lincoln, NE to be near his son Michael and daughter in-law Mary Anne. He loved spending his last days going to Nebraska Huskers football games and being with his oldest son and their families. Roger loved being in the open country side of wherever he found himself. From the Sandhills of Nebraska to the Desert of Southwest Arizona. Roger loved going to church every Sunday followed by a drive to somewhere. Roger brought happiness and laughter everywhere he went. He always had a smile on his face and brought a smile to those he met. Everywhere he went he made friends; people were drawn to his happiness and joy, and he leaves a lasting impact on their hearts. He was a wonderful father to his sons, Michael and Jay, and an amazing grandfather to Katie, Leah, Emily, Tyler, Lindsey, Makayla and great-grandfather to Carson, Jace, Alissa and Aspen. He is survived by his sons Michael (Mary Anne) Lincoln, NE., Jay (Terri) La Quinta, CA., grandchildren, Katie Jo Saylor (Scott) Goodyear, AZ., Leah Michelle Carter (Noel) Goodyear, AZ., Emily Rae McKain (Justin) North Platte., Tyler Roger Sughroue (Madalyn) San Diego, Lindsey Ann Sughroue Rexburg, ID and Makayla Lee Sughroue Provo, UT; siblings, William "Bill" Sughroue and wife, Sue, of Hastings, NE and Eva Hofman of McCook, NE. One of Rogers favorite songs he enjoyed while driving was "Its a Great Day to Be Alive" by Travis Tritt. This song exemplified his life as he was thankful for everyone and everything in his life.
