Roger Lee Olson

Roger L. Olson, age 71, of Douglas, NE formerly of McCook, passed away at the St. Elizabeths hospital in Lincoln on January 7, 2016. He was born in McCook, NE on April 14, 1944 to Elmer and Freda (Adams) Olson. Roger grew up in McCook graduating from McCook High School in 1960. He attended Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff, AZ graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business. Roger returned to McCook where he was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 18 years. He was united in marriage to Twila Bailey on April 7, 1975. The couple moved to Grand Island where Roger sold real estate for several years. Roger is survived by his wife Twila of Douglas, NE; daughter, Shelly and husband, Harv Pierce, of Cozad; son, Rich and wife, Abby, of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Olson of Grand Island. Services for Roger will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
