Roger “Buster” Alan Brown, 84, of Culbertson, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born on April 22, 1940, in Grover, Colorado, to Robert Orie and Thelma Jo (Edwards) Brown. He proudly served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. Following his service, he built a lifelong career with the BNSF Railroad, dedicating 42 years of hard work before retiring in 2000.
On June 17, 1982, after an eight-year engagement, Roger married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Ellis, in Greeley, Colorado. Together, they made their home on the Hoyt Homestead south of Culbertson in 1983, where they found joy in caring for a variety of animals and embracing country life. Roger and Pat shared a passion for auctions, where he took great pride in collecting tools, knickknacks, and implements, always finding treasures in the unexpected. Next to Pat, fishing was the love of his life. He was also a dedicated Denver Broncos fan, rarely going anywhere without a Broncos hat and/or jacket on.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; children Tammy (Bill) Moore, John (LeAnn) Ellis, and Barry (Kimberly) Ellis; sister Elaine Werner; brother Will “Arlon” Brown; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Donald (Francis) Brown; brother-in-law Art Werner; sisters Shirley (Paul) Nash, Phyllis (Tex) Alexander, and Coleen (Paul) Hart; and sister-in-law Linda Brown, along with many other loving family members.
