Roberta Newcomb Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2019, age 91, at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.She was born October 4, 1927 to Lester and Leila (Davison) Taylor near Moorfield, Nebraska. In 1938, she moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska and made her home with her Mother and stepfather, William Tannyhill and his three daughters.

In 1945 she married George Newcomb and they made their home, farming in Cambridge and Curtis, Nebraska, where they raised their five children. They farmed until 1966 when they sold the farm and relocated to Aurora, Nebraska. George passed away in 1989. Roberta was employed by Century Manufacturing in Aurora for many years.

In 1990, Roberta and Harvey Brown were united in marriage and made their home in Curtis and North Platte, Nebraska. Harvey passed away in 2004, at which time Roberta moved to Grand Island to be closer to her children.Roberta was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda Fantoni; stepdaughter, Iris Swailes; stepsisters Nadine Arthur and Marie Bysboom as well as her siblings and parents.

Roberta is survived by her children, son, George Newcomb, Jr., Grand Island, NE; daughters, Linda and husband, James Naeve, Lincoln, NE, Debra and husband, Robert Walker, Grand Island, NE, Patricia and husband Ivan Gaeten, St. Augustine, FL; step sister, Alice Hendricks, Hot Springs, AR; step children, Leta Naber, Greeley, CO, Terry and wife, Connie Brown, Gering, NE.

Roberta was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren of which she was very proud. She will fondly be remembered for her lovely crocheted doilies, famous cherry pies, and her homemade noodles, a favorite of everyone, young and old.

A private family graveside service will be held later, at the family plot, in the Fairview Cemetery, Cambridge, Nebraska. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.
