Robert 'Scott' Wacker

Robert (Scott) Wacker, 69, of McCook, passed away on June 23, 2020 at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, surrounded by his wife of 48 years and their three children. Born on April 18, 1951 to Robert Donald and Bonnie Eileen (Smith) Wacker, Scott enjoyed a wonderful childhood, attended school in McCook with his siblings, playing in sports, serving on student council and making life-long friendships. Scott and Vicki Sue Spear married in Estes Park, Colorado May 16, 1972, and they settled in McCook, where he continued working in the family hog business. Scott, his brother Mark, brother-in-law Larry Hoff, and Glenn Stewart began their hog brokerage, Valley Pork, where he continued working for nearly 30 years. They raised three children in McCook, all of whom attended St. Patricks grade school and graduated from MHS. After coaching his oldest daughter in softball, Scott started McCooks first girls fastpitch traveling team, the Rebels with Earl Roberts. In 1998, Scott was awarded the Jim Hall Memorial award by the Nebraska Softball Association in recognition of his outstanding coaching ability and sportsmanship. During his free time, Scott enjoyed working in the yard, ranching, countless movies and nights on the patio with his wife, entertaining family and friends with game nights and sharing stories. Scott was a voracious student of the world with a special interest in Civil War history. Scott was known as the "crazy" grandpa and was adored by his grandkids for his ornery ways. Scott shared a smile and stories with everyone he met, and was much loved by his friends and family, including his dog, Buck. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Eileen (Smith) Wacker. He is survived by his father Robert Donald Wacker - McCook; wife Vicki Sue - McCook; daughters Angela Wacker (Derek Lackaff) Burlington, NC, Courtney (Darren) Pollmann - McCook; son Robert Justin Wacker (Danni Arroyo) Omaha; grandchildren, Olivia, Miles and Eileen Pollmann - McCook, and Oscar Wacker Lackaff Burlington, NC; sister, Barbara (Larry) Hoff Central City; brother Mark (Monica) Wacker McCook, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Due to COVID, a private inurnment will be held at the Stone Church south of Culbertson. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Scotts name for future designation.
