Robert Floyd Ross

Robert Floyd "Bob" Ross of Culbertson passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, at El Dorado Manor in Trenton. He was 86 years old. Bob was born on February 26, 1932, in Culbertson to parents, Daniel Floyd and Vesper Norine (Roberts) Ross. He was raised on the family farm north of Culbertson. He attended Culbertson schools and graduated with the class of 1947. On September 24, 1952 he entered the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on September 23, 1954. He returned to the Culbertson community and continued to farm the home place. Bob was united in marriage to Mary Lou Ulrich on April 29, 1958. This union was blessed with one son, Jeffery. They remained on the farm until they moved to Culbertson at which time Bob sold insurance for the Marr Insurance Agency. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Shriners, Culbertson American Legion, and McCook Barbershop Choir. He served on various committees including the Culbertson School Board and Village of Culbertson Board. He was a member of the Culbertson Fire Department and drove the Culbertson School bus. Bob helped his neighbors in the harvest fields during wheat and corn harvest. In his leisure time Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, attending Husker and Dallas Cowboy football games, and attending NASCAR racing in Fort Worth, TX. Preceding him in death were his parents, Daniel and Vesper Ross and one brother, Paul Ross. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Ross of Culbertson; son, Jeff Ross of Culbertson; grandson, Kyle Leskiw of Carbondale, CO; and sister, Virginia and husband, Walter Zobel, of Minnetonka, MN. The family will honor Bobs wishes to be cremated. Friends may send words of comfort to the family at www.herrmannfh.com. Memorials may be given in his name to Culbertson Fire Department or El Dorado Nursing Home, Trenton. A memorial service will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at the Culbertson United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Kelly and Pastor Alisa Parde as co-officiates. A private family inurnment will be held at a later time. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is entrusted with arrangements.
