Robert Joseph Eisenach, age 90, of McCook, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. Robert was born August 24, 1931 on the family farm northeast of Culbertson, Neb. to parents, Alexander and Marie Barbara "Mabel" (Wagner) Eisenach. He attended the former District 29 country school, less than a mile from his home, and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1948. He commenced studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before induction by the United States Marine Corps in 1952. He served in Jacksonville, Fla.; Memphis, Tenn.; and El Toro, Calif. He attained the rank of Corporal and a National Defense Service Medal before an honorable discharge in 1954. He returned to Culbertson to help his father farm, during which time his uncle in Lincoln enthusiastically introduced him to a neighbors lovely daughter, Muriel Louise Joy. On June 13, 1955, Bob married Muriel, daughter of Kenneth Harold "Pat" and Grace Burlew (Guthrie) Joy, at First Methodist Church in Lincoln. The couple made their home in northeast Lincoln until Bob completed his Bachelor of Science degree from UNLs School of Agriculture in 1957. To this union, three children were born: Marybeth, Allen Robert, and Thomas Eugene. The family resided in Lyons, Neb. between 1958 and 1961, while Bob worked for the Soil Conservation Service. Thereafter, they returned to Culbertson to continue farming the family farm, including the tree claim homesteaded by his great grandfather, John H. Eisenach, in 1888. Bobs agricultural affiliations included the Hitchcock County Farm Bureau, the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation, the Nebraska-Wyoming Wheat Growers Association, the Southwest Nebraska Pork Producers Association, and the Southwest Nebraska State Irrigation Association. Bob was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson. He was confirmed in 1944, sang with the choir from 1944 to 2020, directed the bell choir, was a member of the United Methodist Men, taught Sunday School, served on the Finance Committee, chaired the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, and was a delegate to the Nebraska Conference. As an expression of his deep Christian faith, he gave generous support to his church and numerous organizations caring for the diseased, destitute, malnourished, and marginalized around the world. He was a talented baritone, who enjoyed singing throughout his life in campus, church, and community choruses. He and Muriel shared a love of music, attending classical concerts and choral conducting conferences around the nation. He had a keen interest in genealogy, particularly in tracing his parents lineage to the village of Frank in the Volga River area of Russia as well as the many Culbertson citizens descended from Frank immigrants. He lived most of his life in Hitchcock County until 1992 when he and Muriel moved to McCook. After Muriels death on August 20, 1995, he married Jeannine Carolyn (Wicke) Licht on February 14, 1998. He retired from farming at the age of 80 after suffering a stroke in 2012. He lived his remaining years at a retirement home in McCook. Preceding him in death were his parents, Alex and Mabel; his wives, Muriel and Jeannine; his son-in-law, John Carl Roschewski; and his nephew, Timothy Neil Carlson.
