Pearl Adelia Bonar

April 23, 1925 — January 20, 2020

Pearl Adelia Bonar of McCook passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at Community Hospital with her family by her side. She was 94 years old. Pearl was born in Humboldt Saskatchewan Canada to parents Karl William and Adelia Cecelia Marie (Mierke) Seckinger. The family moved to the Nipawin Saskatchewan area in 1927 where Pearl grew up on a farm with her five brothers and two sisters. On October 14, 1943, she married Raymond A. Bonar at the Zion Lutheran Church in Nipawin. To this union two children were born, Lonnie L. and Linda P. who are left to mourn their mother. In December of 1950, they moved to McCook, Nebraska. The family left the McCook area a few times but always returned as it truly was their home. In January of 1960, Pearl proudly became a US Citizen. In 1976, she fulfilled a personal dream of graduating from high school earning her GED. Not only was Pearl a busy mother and wife she also worked at Coast to Coast and Meyers Drug while living in Chadron. In McCook, she enjoyed working at Remington Insurance, Walts Drug, and later at Ford's Jewelry. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at the McCook Pantry. She always enjoyed her family and the large family get-togethers. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, and playing cards especially Bridge with her good friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Karl and Adelia Seckinger; her husband of 54 years, Raymond Bonar; five brothers, Clarence, Alfred, Lloyd, Lester and Shorty Seckinger; and sister, Ruby Morton. Survivors include her children, Linda P. Bonar and Lonnie L. (Epuna) Bonar of McCook; three grandchildren, Aaron (Nickie) Bonar of Omaha, Daniel (Jacklynn Stark) Bonar of McCook and Julie (Jared) Katt of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Arianna, Alex, Faith, and Serenity Bonar, Michael, Orin and Grace Katt, and Bryson and Madisynn Stark; sister, Gladys Ferguson of Lanigan Saskatchewan, Canada; nieces and nephews, Darrell (Honey Lou) Bonar of Hastings, Shirley (Bonar) and Robert Butz of Holdrege, Eula (Jones) and Jerry Kelley of Fort Morgan, CO and Doug (Sue) Jones of Anchorage, AK; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada. The departed Pearl was a sincere and devoted Christian, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was appreciated by her family, friends and neighbors. She looked forward to enjoying all that the Grace of God had in store for her and professed to have peace and joy in His service. Pearl had gone to meet Him whom she so faithfully served to obtain her eternal reward. May God comfort and sustain the bereaved family and friends and grant them a happy reunion in the kingdom of Glory. Memorials may be given in her name to Peace Lutheran Helping Hands Project Fund. Funeral service will be Friday, January 24, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, with Pastor Lonnie Felcher officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
