Norma J. Wilson

Norma Jean (Brecht) Wilson died Monday, March 14, 2022, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 92 years old. Norma was born March 5, 1930, in Culbertson, NE in Hitchcock County to Jacob and Pauline (Hoff) Brecht. She graduated from Culbertson High School in 1947. Norma married Virgil Ayers Wilson on August 22, 1948. To this union three sons and three daughters were born. Norma was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren at numerous sporting events. Virgil and Norma spent time in retirement creating wood crafts. She enjoyed fishing and family gatherings. Norma is survived by her children: Virgil Ray Wilson and wife Connie of Cedar Rapids, IA; Jane (Wilson) Braden and husband Richard of Omaha; Karen (Wilson) Krepcik and husband Harlan (Skip) Krepcik of Norfolk, VA; Kenneth Wilson and wife Cindy of Culbertson, NE; Daniel Wilson and partner Ron Raborn of Aurora, CO; Polly (Wilson) Weskamp and husband Craig Weskamp of Aurora, CO; one sister Lila Cook and her husband Ronald Cook of Culbertson; sisters-in-law Sharon Felker, Karen Brecht and Vonna Wilson; brothers-in-law Jack Bishop and Darwin Wilson, 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Virgil Wilson, brothers Kenneth Brecht and Alan Brecht along with sisters-in-law Carol Brecht, Velma Walker, Vonda Loomis, Shirley Bishop, Kay Wilson, Patricia Wilson and brothers-in-laws Leonard Walker, Gerry Felker, Reed Loomis, Dwaine Wilson and Paul Gigax. Cremation was chosen. Private Family services for Norma will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2022 at the Hitchcock County Fairgrounds in Culbertson, Nebraska.
