Norma Jeanne Cole

Norma Jeanne Cole, age 101, of Culbertson, NE, passed away at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton, NE, on December 19, 2022. She was born in rural Hitchcock County on October 25, 1921, to Eugene and Florence (Houser) Walters. Norma attended and graduated from Trenton High School taking classes for Normal Training. She taught at a rural school south of Trenton. On December 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Orlan C. Cole in Trenton. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2008. The couple made their home in Trenton from 1946 until 1949 when they moved to Minatare, NE. They ran dairies in Minatare, Trenton, and Benkelman. Norma was involved with all the aspects of the operation, from milking several times a day to managing the office. The couple returned to the family farm in Hitchcock County in 1958. Norma loved to bake dinner rolls, beef and noodles for family get togethers. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning her vegetables. Norma was an avid reader. She was a member of the New Life Fellowship Church of Culbertson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Florence; husband, Orlan Cole; three grandsons, infant, Michael Casey, Michael Allen; seven siblings: Marjorie Walters, Robert (Irene) Walters, Abby (Don) Dilyard, Myrna (Charles) Morrison, Alma Lou (Don) Moffett, Eunice (Clarence) Evans, Ellen (John) OLeary; son-in-law, Albert Channel. Norma was survived by her three daughters, Marge and husband, Cermit Brown of Culbertson; Joyce Channel of Fairmont, NE; Linda and husband, David Qualls of Choctaw, OK; two sons, Richard and wife, Anita Cole of Pueblo, CO; Bill and wife, Kimberly Cole of Trenton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Norma will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the New Life Fellowship Church in Culbertson with Pastor Rick Bradley officiating. Interment will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service at the New Life Fellowship Church from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
