Norma L. Burton Norma Lucille Burton died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Benchmark Healthcare in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born Oct. 3, 1923, on the family farm near Bartley in Red Willow County, Nebraska to Carl and Amelia (Fichner) Millie Bamesberger. Norma attended country school and later graduated from McCook High School in 1941. As a girl, she was a star softball pitcher, and she loved to roller skate all the way into her early 70s. On June 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Merwyn Burton. They shared 65 wonderful years before he preceded her in death on July 4, 2011. Norma was active in her community. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit Number 245. For more than four decades she was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. In later years, she was active in the Bartley Christian Church where she loved sharing her faith as Bible study leader and Sunday school teacher. After 87 years in Nebraska, Norma relocated to the St. Louis area on October 3, 2011, her 88th birthday. She and her husband had made many trips to St. Louis over the years to visit children and grandchildren, and she was excited to finally live so close to them. Just last week, when asked by family where shed go if she could travel anywhere in the country, she replied, Wherever you all are. Norma loved sports. Her favorite teams were the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was especially thrilled when her beloved Cardinals won the World Series Championship this fall.- Norma is survived by two sons, Clark of St. Louis and Rex of Denver; daughter, Paula and son-in-law Steve Bommarito of St. Louis; grandchildren Adam and Jarrod White, and Jonathan, David and Andrea Burton; and great-grandson Rogan.: 6 siblings: Arlene Clapp of Wilsonville, OR; Kenneth Bamesberger of Coloradao Springs, Co; Ruth Shields of McCoook, NE; Lois Lueking of Fallbrook, CA; Iris Rowley of Colorado Springs, CO and Dale Bamesberger of Bartley, NE. Services will be held at the Bartley Christian Church in Bartley, NE on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Mike Searcey officiating. Burial will be in the Bartley Cemetery, Bartley, Nebraska.
