Noreen Jumps, age 93, a longtime resident of McCook, passed away Wednesday evening, May 4, 2022 at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial, Nebraska. Noreen was born on a farm in Danbury, Nebraska to Clarence and Anna (Farber) Keith on July 25, 1928. She was the third of twelve children. Noreen went to country school west of her home, for five years. The family then moved to Thatcher, Colorado where she went to school for three more years. Noreen and her family then moved to Danbury where she finished her education and graduated with the class of 1945. After graduation she moved to McCook, Nebraska and worked at Modrells Caf as a dishwasher, waitress, and cook. Noreen spent most of her years working in the restaurant business. She also worked for thirteen years at the hose plant in McCook. She retired in 1998. On January 4, 1948 Noreen was united in marriage to Glen Jumps. To this union one son was born, Daniel Jumps. Noreen was an avid animal lover and she made sure the neighborhood pets were taken care of. She also fed and watered the birds and squirrels. Noreen walked many miles every day for about fifteen years to deliver treats to the animals around her neighborhood. Noreen was a stamp collector. She also collected Avon bottles, salt and pepper shakers, and squirrel figurines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen in 2009; her grandparents; her parents; three infant siblings: Richard, Gerald, and Donna Rose; six sisters: Leardis, Glenva, Delores, Jackie, Anita, and LaVerna; and two brothers, Norman and Jimmy. Noreen is survived by her son, Daniel Jumps and wife, Jan; two grandsons, Samuel and Joseph Jumps; one great-grandson, Toby Jumps; sisters-in-law, Mary Jumps, Janiece Jumps, and Betty Felker; two brothers-in-law, Howard Kenfield and Benny Jumps; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 8, 2022 from 4-6pm at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Funeral Services will be held on at 10:00 am on Monday morning, May 9, 2022 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Jeff Donelan officiating. Interment will follow services in the Culbertson Cemetery, Culbertson, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) of McCook as Noreen loved when the young people from the church would come and play Bingo at Highland Park Retirement Home where she resided for the last seven years.
