Noel Dwayne Schnabel of Trenton, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Dundy County Hospital, Benkelman, Nebraska. He was 76 years old. Noel was born on March 28, 1940 at Trenton to parents, Herman and Iva I. (Steinke) Schnabel. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1958. On April 4, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Claudia Christine Frank. Together they raised their family of four in the Trenton community. Noel and Claudia were owners and operators of the Wagon Wheel Arcade for many years in Trenton. Noel was also self-employed in construction. Noel loved to golf and served as president of the Trenton Golf Club for some time. He also enjoyed his bowling league in McCook, hunting pheasant and quail, fishing, gardening both flowers and vegetables, and was an avid fan of both the Nebraska Huskers and Denver Broncos. Preceding him in death were his wife, Claudia on May 11, 2016; and his parents, Herman and Iva Schnabel. Survivors include his four children, Alan Schnabel and wife, Virginia, of St. Robert, MO, Leon Schnabel and wife, Melanie, of Brule, Chris and husband, Roger Smith, of McCook and Ronda and husband, Pat Lewis, of Trenton; one sister, Stephanie and husband, Bill Tilford of Sutherland; three brothers, Herman Schnabel and wife, Jan, of Indian Hills, CO, Larry Schnabel of Trenton and Gary Schnabel and wife, Betty, of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Memorials may be given in his name. Graveside service will be Monday, January 30, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at the Trenton Cemetery with Father Lothar Gilde officiating. A time of refreshments and sharing of memories will be held at the Catholic Church in Trenton following the services. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of Trenton is in charge of the arrangements.
