Nancy Haller Towne

March 23, 1951 — September 6, 2017

Nancy Haller Towne, age 66, passed away at her home in McCook on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. She was born in McCook on March 23, 1951, to Charles and Luanne (Beneda) Haller. She graduated from McCook High School in 1969. After graduation, Nancy attended Kearney State College where she received degrees in Criminal Justice and Communications. Nancy married Mike Towne in 1972, and they had one son, Christian. In 1983, she married Mike Gintzler, and they lived in Kearney where Nancy worked and raised three boys. Nancy spent her entire life taking care of people, including her son, her stepchildren, her grandchildren, both her parents, and numerous elderly clients she had through the years. She thoroughly enjoyed her years at Hillcrest Nursing Home, and the residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed her gentle touch and enthusiasm, especially her announcing BINGO games. Nancy loved spending time with her Friday night friends, attending "chicken n a biscuit" in Wilcox, participating in numerous community and college play productions, taking her niece and nephew to a Blink 182 concert in Denver, and entertaining the elderly residents at Hillcrest. Nancy became an avid Bison football, wrestling and track fan when her grandson Landon started in junior high. She did cringe a bit as she watched him pole vault, but she was definitely his biggest cheerleader. But above all, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and her wonderful wacky friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; and Mike Towne. Nancy is survived by her son, Christian and wife, Kristylyn, of Holbrook, NE; Landon Towne; sister, Linda and husband, Cloyd Clark; brother, David and wife, Connie Haller, all of McCook; brother, Mark of Hammond, LA; and sister, Marcia and husband, Jim Glenn, of Crete, NE. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. A celebration of Nancys life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at St. Albans Episcopal Church with the Reverend Dr. Brad Brauer officiating. Friends and family will gather in the church parish house after the service to share stories and celebrate Nancys unique gifts. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is entrusted with arrangements.
