Nancy Ellen Mortimore

Nancy Ellen Mortimore age 85, of Cambridge died at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on June 24, 2011. She was born on June 29, 1925 near Lebanon, Nebraska in Red Willow County, to Cyrus W. and Lillian Ruth (Baker) Thomas. Nancy attended country school graduating from Danbury High School. Nancy worked in McCook after graduation at the Ideal Laundry. She moved to Seattle, Washington where she worked for Boeing Aircraft. On May 1, 1958 she married Harlan "Baldy" Mortimore, he preceded her in death on March 10, 2006. The couple farmed southwest of Stockville, Nebraska for 30 years. Nancy moved to Cambridge October 27, 2004. Nancy enjoyed dancing, especially to polka music. Nancy and friends would attend dances across southwest Nebraska. She was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Malcolm and an infant brother. Nancy is survived by nieces: Dani and husband Holger Thomas of Germany: Tracy Wilkins of Montgomery, TX: 2 nephews: Eugene and wife Catherine Thomas of Albright, West Virginia; Ed and wife Linda Thomas of McCook, NE. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge, NE with Raymond Durner officiating. Burial will be June 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, June 27, 2011 from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM, Tuesday 9:00 AM till 7:00 PM.
