Murlin Lloyd Krizek, age 92, of McCook, NE passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Community Hospital, McCook, NE. Murlin was born on November 19, 1924 in Decatur County, KS to Victor and Pauline (Beneda) Krizek, he was the third of six children. Murlin wed Luella Nadine Hayes October 8, 1950 in Rexford, KS. To this union three children were born. Murlin grew up in Decatur County and was drafted into the military service, US Army, on October 15, 1943, serving until January 23, 1946 when he was honorably discharged. While in the service, Murlin was stationed in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He served under General Patton as a Clerk General and combat infantryman. While serving beside General Patton, Murlin was designated as the carrier of the radios, a highly regarded position as well as a very dangerous position. Murlin was awarded two purple hearts, World War II Victory Ribbon, and four Bronze Service Stars to name a few honors. After the service, Murlin was employed by Stevens 7-Up Beverage Company, J.T. Jewell Company and retiring from Dayco Hose Company. During Murlins lifetime, he enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his proudest accomplishments. He enjoyed raising various livestock and frequenting auctions and cattle sales. Murlin also had a love for polka music. Preceding him in death were his parents, Victor and Pauline Krizek; wife, Luella Krizek; son, Steve Krizek; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Ben Sammons of Citrus Heights, CA, Lucille and Clarence Shuler of Seldon, KS, Catherine and Sam Marshall of Rexford, KS, and Francis Krizek of Oberlin, KS; brother, Everett Krizek of McCook. Survivors include his daughter and husband, Peggy and Lyle Smalley of McCook; son and wife, Neal and Lee (Bundy) of Lincoln; grandchildren, Scott and wife, Kayla Smalley of McCook, Kala Smalley of Blue Springs, MO, Tanner Krizek of Red Cloud, and Riley Krizek and fianc, Benjamin Benson of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hayden Smalley of McCook; nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and many friends. In remembrance of Murlin, think of this as so long, not good-bye. Memorials may be given in his name. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. Funeral service will be Thursday, September 7, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at McCook Christian Church with Pastor Kyle Dellevoet officiating. Burial will be in the Oberlin Cemetery, Oberlin, Kansas at 2:30 p.m. with military honors. Herrmann Jones Funeral Home of McCook is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation
