Michelle Renae Unger-Grier, a resident of Stratton, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was 43 years of age. She was born on August 8, 1978 in Cambridge, Nebraska to John Larry and Adelaide Fay (Frandsen) Unger. She attended school in Trenton and Stratton, graduating from Stratton High School with the class of 1997. After high school, Michelle attended North Platte Community College. Michelle was not afraid of hard work. She started working for Frenchman Valley Coop while still in high school. In her 15 years with Frenchman Valley, she worked primarily as an elevator operator, but took on many other duties and responsibilities as well. In 2018, Michelle took on a new challenge as a manager at Grace Market in Benkelman, Nebraska. Her cats were her whole world, she loved to be with her feline companions and spoiled each and every one of them. Michelle loved being outdoors and was especially happy when hunting and fishing. She loved music and was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker and Jeff Gordan Nascar fan. Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Mollie Unger; grandfather, Johnny Wahrman; and grandfather, Alan Frandsen. She is survived by her son, Roemello Grier of McCook; parents, John and Adelaide Fay Unger of Stratton, Nebraska; grandmother, Donna Mae Frandsen of Oberlin, Kansas; brother, Jeremiah Unger and wife, Keisha, of Benkelman, Nebraska; nieces and nephews: Dexter Smith, Bryson Smith, Jacob Smith, Trynt "Bubbles" Unger, and Emma Unger; uncles, Ed (Marilyn) Unger of McCook and Larry (Karen) Frandsen of Wyoming; as well as countless friends and her fianc. A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 PM (MT), Sunday, September 19th, 2021 at the Fire Hall in Benkelman, Nebraska. No viewing or visitation; Michelle chose cremation. A private family inurnment will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family of Michelle Unger- Grier for future designation.
