Merlin Charles Diederich

Merlin Charles Diederich passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at his home in McCook, Nebraska at the age of 84, after a battle with cancer. He was born on April 2, 1932, at Selden, Kansas to parents, Charles H. and Matilda Lydia (Harold) Diederich. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1949. Merlin entered the Army Airborne in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was united in marriage to Lola Joan Kaus on June 11, 1953 at Leoville, Kansas. Merlin spent most of his life self-employed working in sales and service in a floor covering business in Boulder, Colorado. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Other hobbies included gardening, fishing, bird watching, and watching sports on TV. Preceding him in death were his parents Charles and Matilda Diederich; and one brother, Gerald C. Diederich. He is survived by the love of his life Lola J. (Kaus) of 63 years; children, Stephen C. Diederich (Marilyn), Sharon K. Koch ( Beatle), David J. Diederich (Cheri), Ronald R. Diederich (Dawn), Carol A. Young (Jim); 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Lois M. Jordan; brothers, Vernon R., Allen J., and Leo W. Diederich. Words of condolences may be sent to the family at www.herrmannfh.com Memorial Services will be at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, 607 Norris Ave. McCook, NE 69001, on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.
