Mary Ann Stritt

Mary Ann Stritt of Indianola passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old. Mary Ann was born May 11, 1928 to parents Andrew and Mary (Schutte) Kohmetscher at McCook. She attended school in McCook. She was married to Herman P. Stritt at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook, Nebraska, February 5, 1952. To this union eight children were born: Dale, Joan, Donna, Pat, Mary, Janice, Jerry, and Gloria. They resided on a farm northwest of Bartley, Nebraska before moving to Indianola in 1983. Mary Ann enjoyed life on the farm and had a passion for gardening. Her hobbies over the years included making rosaries, bowling, playing cards (especially winning a poker hand) or watching a slot machine pay out. She was a faithful church attendee at St. Catherines where she was a member of the Altar Society. Her love for God and family radiated from her throughout her life. Preceding her in death include husband, Herman P. Stritt on August 23,1987; parents, Andrew and Mary Kohmetscher; brothers, Kenneth Kohmetscher, Victor (Hugh) Kohmetscher, and James Kohmetscher; sisters, Rita Titman, Roberta Cappel, Betty Hull, and Imelda Hays; and daughter-in-law, Rose Stritt. Her survivors include children, Dale Stritt of Indianola, Joan Quelle of York, Donna and husband, Tad Kraszewski, of Carson, CA, Pat Stritt and wife, Ivy, of Bartley, Mary and husband, Lloyd Ogorozolka, of Indianola, Janice and husband, Phil Bamesberger, of Indianola, Jerry Stritt and wife, Denise, of Hays, KS, Gloria and husband, Barry Kohl, of McCook; sisters, Deanna Kohmetscher, of McCook and Eunice Norman of Rochester, MN; sister-in-law, Alyce Mae Stritt of McCook; 20 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, from 10:00 a.m., until time of Rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 16, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherines Catholic Church, Indianola, with Father Greg Powloski as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherines Cemetery. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook entrusted with arrangements.
