Mary Catherine Moskal

July 21, 1934 — March 19, 2025

Mary Catherine Moskal, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 90. She was born on July 21, 1934, in Winona, Kansas, to Theadore and Louise Schumacher.


On May 31, 1958, Mary married the love of her life, Lyle Moskal, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greeley, Colorado. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family and community. Mary and Lyle had a deep faith and were members of St. Patrick Catholic Church, McCook, Nebraska for over 60 years.


Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her parents; her sister, Ruth Silva; and her brothers, Gilbert (Sonny) Schumacher and Kenneth Schumacher.


Mary is survived by her sons, Richard Moskal (Patti) of Windsor, Colorado, and Robert Moskal (Linda) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to David Moskal (Kenna) of Talala, Oklahoma, Mark Moskal (Susanne) of Bixby, Oklahoma, Kristina Duty (Josh) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Megan Gembarowski (Eric) of Thornton, Colorado, and Morgan Gordon (Trevor) of Ft Collins, Colorado. She also leaves behind eight cherished great-grandchildren: Carter Moskal of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kyla Moskal of Talala, Oklahoma, Jackson Moskal and Alexandria Moskal of Bixby, Oklahoma, Emery Duty and Ellie Duty of Edmond, Oklahoma, Aden Gembarowski and Ella Gembarowski of Thornton, Colorado; and one great-great grandchild, Molly Moskal-Wise of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.


Mary will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.


Mary pursued her passion for caring for others by becoming a registered nurse. She worked at McCook West Ward Elementary School as an administrative assistant and part-time nurse, touching the lives of many students and families. She was a devoted member of her community, volunteering and forming deep friendships with those around her.


A woman of many talents, Mary loved playing bridge and pinochle with friends, always enjoying a lively card game. She was an avid supporter of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and McCook Bison sports, cheering for her teams with enthusiasm. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she was famous for her pies, cinnamon rolls and Runza’s, sharing her love through food with family and friends.


Mary had a special place in her heart for Dr. John and Cindy West and their daughters, Katie and Anna, of McCook. She was known for her kindness, warmth, and ability to make everyone feel like family. Her legacy of love, generosity and community spirit will live on through those she touched.


Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook (607 Norris Avenue, McCook) with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 PM.


Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, March 29, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook (612 East 4th Street, McCook) with Father Bernard Kimminau celebrating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in McCook will follow services.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made Saint Simeon’s Foundation. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.
