Mary Arthaud Colling 88, of McCook, Nebraska, died April 14, 2016 at The Monarch Residence, Lincoln, NE. Mary was born December 3, 1927 to Henry A. and Mary M. (Hougnon) Arthuad. She grew up on a farm north of Cambridge, Nebraska. During her youth she was involved in 4-H in Furnas County and was honored to attend the 25th National 4-H club conference in Chicago in 1947. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945. After this, she attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, for 2 years. She was a life time fan of the Cornhusker football team. She married Francis John Colling May 28, 1949 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge, Nebraska. Francis died April 16, 1984. They were married almost 35 years. They are the parents of 11 children including a set of twins. She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Mary M.; husband, Francis J.; five brothers; Joseph, Cyril, Vincent, Paul and Raymond; four sisters, Mary Eleanor, Jeanette, Sr. Barbara Arthaud, O.P., Agnes, son-in-law Bernard Hock, and infant great grandson Bernard Kenneth Davidson. Mary was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic church in McCook, NE. She was an active member of St. Patricks Altar Society, Legion of Mary, St. Theresas Circle, and the prayer chain. While raising her children, Mary was a 4-H leader in Red Willow County for many years. Through her leadership and teaching talents, she helped her children learn skills that would serve them well throughout their lives. She enjoyed her family and their various activities. She was an avid reader, played the piano, loved music, sewing, cooking, and gardening. She was known for her delicious homemade bread, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, and chocolate cake. She loved to travel and visit her children. She also traveled to Europe several times and attended her grandson, Father Neal Hocks Deacon Ordination in St. Peters Basilica, Rome, Italy. Survivors include Ronald (Joyce) Colling, Osceola, NE, Daniel (Barbara) Colling, Kansas City, MO, Barbara (Greg) Graham, Fort Collins, CO, Mary Jo (Bradford) Hock, Culbertson, NE, David (Emma Jean) Colling, Lincoln, NE, Carol (Bernard deceased) Hock, McCook, NE, Father Paul Colling, Kearney, NE, Philip (Ronda) Colling, Omaha, NE, Gregg, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Janice (Chris) Corcoran, Fort Collins, CO, and Sharon (Christopher) DeVries, Castle Pines, CO; thirty-five grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren. She also survived by her twin sister Margaret (Robert) Graff of Beatrice; sister-in-law, Joyce Arthaud of White Bear Lake, MN; brother-in-law Joe and wife, Eileen Colling of McCook; sister-in-law Alfreda Colling of McCook, sister-in-law Dorothy Colling of Omaha; Bernadine Ritter, McKinney, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
