Mary Alexander

     Mary Leann Alexander was born in Wilsonville, Nebraska to Wayne and Bernice (Ankenman) Kasson on December 20, 1943. A proud graduate of Wilsonville High School in May of 1962, her educational foundation set the stage for a life dedicated to family and community.

     Mary was united in marriage at her parent’s home in Wilsonville on January 19, 1963 to Larry Alexander. Mary's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She lovingly chose to stay at home to raise her children, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and hard work. Later, she took on the role of a teacher's aide at the school in Bartley, Nebraska, where her nurturing spirit earned her the affectionate nickname of "Mrs. A." Many of her former students, now in their 40’s, still refer to her this way.

     Mary enjoyed sharing memorable moments with her family. Family trips to South Dakota and Colorado were some of the highlights of their lives together, times filled with laughter and bonding that created lasting memories. She took great delight in attending the many school activities of her children and grandchildren

     Mary was surrounded by family when she passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 81 years of age.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Joe Kasson; sister, Barbara Hyke; sisters-in-law, Alice Kasson, Patricia Myens, and Phylis Lebsack; brother-in-law, Dale Lebsack; father-in-law, Dale Alexander; and mother-in-law, Rose Alden.

     Mary is survived by her loving family, who will carry forward her legacy of love and dedication: husband, Larry Alexander; son, Jerry (Sandy) Alexander; daughter, Kari Salas; brothers-in-law, Lonny (Nancy) Alexander and Terry (Sherrie) Alexander; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a large extended family and many friends.

     Visitation is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, December 21, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. A private family graveside service in the Wilsonville Cemetery will take place at a later date.

     Memorials are suggested to the family of Mary Alexander for later designation. Online condolences may be left at lockenour.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge.

     Mary Leann Alexander will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.
