Marvin Gail Odell

Marvin G. Odell, age 73 of Holdrege passed away at his home in Holdrege on Friday, March 31, 2017. He was born on September 3, 1943 in Cambridge to James and Lyla June (Jones) Odell. Marvin was raised in the Atlanta, Nebraska attending grade school through 8th grade. He went on to further his education at Loomis High School. Marvin served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 through 1965. He took his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He received his advanced training at Ft. Knox, KY, he was then stationed in Germany for the remainder of his enlistment. Marvin was Honorably discharged on December 8, 1965. He worked mostly construction during this period of his life.

Marvin was united in marriage to Linda Jolene (Leach) Long on March 3, 1980. The couple lived in Edison. Marvin drove a truck for the last 8 years before retiring and moving to Holdrege. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auctions, garage sales and restoring vintage vehicles. Time spent with family built many lasting memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Lyla; sister Bilva and husband Roger Fitch; brother: Timothy Odell; Father-in-law: Conner and wife Betty June Leach; brothers-in-law: Jerry Leach and Ray Petersen.

Marvin is survived by his wife: Linda of Holdrege; daughter: Tena Long Holdrege; sons: Randy Odell of Holdrege, NE; Lee and Wife Becky Long of Oxford, NE; Jamie and wife Dawn Odell of Edison, NE; brothers-in-law: Gary Leach and Robert Leach; sisters-in-law Myrna Petersen; Barb Leach; Pat Odell; 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, Wednesday April 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Bill Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be left in Marvin's name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.
