Marlene A. (Kashka) Webster of Denver, CO, formerly of McCook, NE, died October 28, 2022 at the Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO after a battle with Parkinsons Disease. Marlene was born July 12, 1935 in Rawlins County, KS to Victor and Victoria Kashka. She graduated from McDonald Rural High School in 1953 and from Marymount School of Nursing in Salina, KS in 1956. Her career as a caregiver began at St. Catherines Hospital in McCook, NE. There, she met Stanley Webster, a college student working as a surgical tech. They married on August 12, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, KS. Throughout their 44-year marriage, Marlene continued to work in various nursing capacities while raising six children. During her career, she worked at Loveland Memorial Hospital in Loveland, CO; Northwest Kansas Medical Center in Goodland, KS; Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Loveland, CO; Renville County Hospital in Olivia, MN; and Community Hospital in McCook, NE. While in Goodland, KS, she also taught Licensed Practical Nurses at the Northwest Kansas Vocational School. In 1994, Marlene was the Caring Kind Award recipient at McCook Community Hospital, a testament to her compassion as a nurse. She was also very active in the St. Patrick Catholic Church parish in McCook. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Victoria Kashka; half-sisters, Gertrude Winning and Helene Henrikson; half-brother, Lou Kashka; brothers, Leonard Kashka and Marvin Kashka; husband, Stanley Webster; daughter, Susan Webster; and son-in-law, Robert Frederick. She is survived by her brother, Leroy (Judy) Kashka of Kansas City, MO; five children: Dr. Cynthia Frederick of Arvada, CO; Gregory (Jill) Webster of Verrado, AZ; Yvonne (Steve) Sonnek of St. Clair, MN; Jennifer (JR) Hillemier of Byron, MN; and Marc (Dalette) Webster of Alma, NE; 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. A recitation of the Rosary will be held Friday evening, November 4, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until after the Rosary. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook. Interment will follow services in St Patrick Calvary Cemetery in McCook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Lutheran Medical Center Foundation, 8300 W 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 (include memo directing gift to Collier Hospice).
