Marjorie Ann Redfield

Marjorie Ann Redfield, age 91, of Stratton, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was born in Dundy County southeast of Max, Nebraska on October 26, 1927 to James Otis and Irma Jean (Mills) Rickard. Marjorie graduated from Max High School in 1945. She attended the University of Nebraska where she played the clarinet in the University Marching Band during WWII. Marjorie was united in marriage to Lawrence Eugene Redfield on September 5, 1948, at Stratton. They made their home in the Stratton community where they raised their three children, Larry, Craig and Kristi. Lawrence preceded her in death in September of 1968. She worked hard and kept the family farm going after Lawrences death and also worked at the local bank as a teller. Music was Marjories life. She was the church organist for United Methodist Church, playing for church services, weddings and funerals. She also taught music lessons to many students. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Eureka Chapter #86 of McCook and the Holly Chapter in Benkelman. She is preceded by her parents, Otis and Irma Rickard; daughter, Kristi Neiman; and one brother, Derald Rickard. Marjorie is survived by her sons, Larry Redfield and wife, Tamera, of Lincoln and Craig Redfield and fiance, Lorraine Herrick, of Champion; son-in-law, Jon Neiman of Wallace; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy and husband, Dean Whaley, of Trenton; numerous family and a host of friends. Funeral services for Marjorie will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019, in Stratton at the United Methodist Church, at 3:00 PM (CST) with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
