Marie Louise Foley

     Marie Louise Foley, a beloved mother and grandmother, was born on July 19, 1947, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Monroe and Mae (Morris) Schmidt. Growing up in Bartley, Nebraska, she completed her education and graduated with the Bartley High School Class of 1965.

     On August 10, 1978, Marie married Mike Foley, in McCook, Nebraska. Together, they created a warm home filled with love. Marie devoted herself to her family, raising two sons while also taking on the role of head maid at the Chief Motel on B Street in McCook. Later, she continued to serve her community by working at Walmart.

     Beyond her commitments, Marie had a passion for nurturing her vibrant flower garden, where she took great joy in the beauty of nature. She found happiness in solving puzzles and shared wonderful moments with Mike as they explored their mutual interests—whether it was enjoying the camaraderie of the APA pool league, fishing, or traveling to new places.

     Marie Foley left this world on January 5, 2026, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, at the age of 78.

     She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Mike, in 2010, along with her parents and several dear family members, including her brother, Myron Schmidt; nephew, Aaron Schmidt; niece, Kimberly Shaffer; and brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Karen Shaffer.

     Her legacy lives on in the hearts of many, especially her sons, Troy Farr of Kearney, Nebraska and John (Anita) Foley of McCook. She was a proud grandmother to Andreau Farr, Alex (Brooke) Farr, Abby Farr, Brighton Walkington-Foley, and Dylan Foley; and a loving great-grandmother to Alia, Ava, and Abel Farr. Marie is also survived by her brother, Carl Schmidt.

     Cremation was chosen and memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 AM of Friday morning, January 9, 2026 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Committal services at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska will follow at 2:00 PM on Friday afternoon.
