Margalee A. Ruf

Margalee Alice Ruf age 93, passed away at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Arapahoe, NE on November 6, 2020. She was born near Wilsonville in Furnas County, NE on March 11, 1927 to Walter and Garnet (Bankson) Lyons. Margalee attended Wilsonville High School graduating in 1946 and she then continued her education, receiving her Certificate of Normal Training. She taught several years in District 81. On June 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Manuel Ruf in McCook. Manuel preceded her in death on July 25, 2009. The couple farmed near Wilsonville. Margalee was an active member of the Wilsonville Christian Baptist Church where she was the Sunday school superintendent and taught Sunday School. Margalee was a member of the Wilsonville Alumni and a 4-H leader. She was a member of the IHO Club, Legion Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary. In her early years she and Manuel would square dance and ballroom dance throughout the valley. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, china painting, cake decorating, and took piano lessons after the kids had left the home. She and Manuel traveled to Hawaii and in the continental states as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Garnet; sister, Esther McCraken: infant brother; three grandchildren; and sons-in-law, Ken Van Duyne, Rex Solomon, and Steve Kohlman. Margalee is survived by seven daughters: Patricia (Charles) Brashears of Kearney, NE; Deanna (Mark) Hankins of McCook, NE; Nancy Van Duyne of Salina, KS; Danette (Gary) Fanders of Beatrice, NE; Cindy (Jeff) Bolin of Albion, NE; Tammy Solomon of McCook, NE; Claudia (Rick) Fredricks of Grand Island; two sons, David (Margaret) Ruf and Danny Ruf both of Wilsonville, NE; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 1:30 at the Wilsonville Cemetery with Keith Theobald and Bill Weaver officiating. Memorials may be left in Margalees name to either the Wilsonville Library of the Christian-Baptist Church of Wilsonville. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
